Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Imprie app and this website collect, why, and what control you have. The short version: your voice recording is sent to our server only to be scored, and is never stored there. Recordings are kept on your phone.

What we collect in the app

Voice recordings

• When you record an answer, the audio file is saved on your device. We need microphone permission for this.
• When you choose to evaluate a recording, the audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our server (Google Cloud Functions), which passes it to Google's Gemini AI model to produce a transcript and feedback.
• We do not store your audio on our servers. Once scoring finishes, the server discards it. There is no cloud copy of your recordings.
• Recordings are excluded from Android device backups, so if you uninstall the app or lose your phone, your recordings are gone.
• Google processes the audio under its Gemini API terms. [VERIFY: whether the Gemini API tier in use allows Google to use submitted content to improve its products. The paid tier does not; the free tier may.]

Transcripts, scores and feedback

The transcript of your answer, the scores, the measurements we compute from it (such as words per minute, filler-word counts and pause lengths) and the written feedback are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your account, so you can see your history and progress. Each result is also tagged with the prompt you answered, the recording length and which version of our scoring model produced it.

Account information

• When you first open the app, we create an anonymous account with a random ID (Firebase Authentication). You don't need to give us your name or email to practice.
• If you choose to sign in with email or Google, we store your email address and, for Google sign-in, the display name on your Google account.
• We keep a daily count of how many sessions you've scored, to apply usage limits.

App integrity

We use Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app. This sends device attestation signals to Google; it does not give us your identity.

Reminders

If you turn on daily practice reminders, they are scheduled on your device. Nothing about them is sent to us.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. The app contains no ads.
• We don't use an analytics or advertising SDK in the app. [VERIFY: keep this true if analytics or crash reporting is added to the app later.]
• We don't score or judge your accent or your opinions.

Why we use it

We use this data to provide the service: transcribing and scoring your answers, showing your history and progress, keeping your account signed in, enforcing usage limits and protecting the service from abuse. We may review aggregated or anonymised results to improve how scoring works. [VERIFY: legal basis wording (contract / legitimate interests) for your jurisdiction.]

Who processes it

Google, as our infrastructure provider: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Remote Config, App Check and the Gemini API. Our functions and database run in Google's Singapore region (asia-southeast1). Your data may therefore be processed outside your country.

How long we keep it

• Audio: not kept on our servers at all. On your device, until you delete the session or uninstall the app.
• Transcripts, scores and feedback: for as long as your account exists. [VERIFY: retention for inactive anonymous accounts.]

Your choices and rights

• You can deny or revoke microphone permission at any time in Android settings. You won't be able to record without it.
• To delete your account and all stored transcripts and scores, email support@imprie.app from the address you signed in with, or include your account ID. We will delete it within 30 days. [VERIFY: add an in-app delete-account option and a web deletion path; Google Play requires both for apps with sign-in.]
• Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to processing. Contact us to use these rights.

Children

Imprie is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. [VERIFY: matches the target age group declared in Play Console.]

This website

This site has no accounts or forms. It is hosted on Firebase Hosting, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations. If you accept the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics to count visits and clicks on the Google Play button. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded. You can change your choice with "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
